NITAG Technical Secretariat Support
Strengthening evidence-based immunisation decision-making
The challenge
National Immunization Technical Advisory Groups are the backbone of evidence-based immunisation policy across Africa — but most operate without dedicated secretariat capacity, struggle to synthesise rapidly evolving evidence, and lack the analytical bandwidth to respond to vaccine introduction decisions in real time.
What we do
- Establish NITAG governance structures, terms of reference, and conflict-of-interest frameworks aligned with WHO guidance
- Provide secretariat coordination — meeting management, agenda development, technical brief preparation and minute production
- Conduct systematic evidence reviews and GRADE-quality assessments for vaccine-related decisions
- Develop NITAG recommendations, policy briefs and decision documents for ministerial endorsement
- Train NITAG members and working groups on evidence synthesis, GRADE methodology and deliberative processes
- Support inter-country NITAG networks and continental harmonisation efforts
How an engagement runs
Engagements typically span 6–18 months in structured phases: assessment and design (6–8 weeks); governance establishment and capacity development (3–6 months); operational secretariat support (ongoing).
